• Excitement Rising: BHO rises in polling and the subliminal endorsement from T.I.

8pt Gallup Lead? He’s hit 50 for what I think is the 3rd time so far (with a high point of 51).

Further, T.I. is the sole proponent of Joe Biden mania.

• John McCain and the Pity Vote

I figured it out. John McCain, now withering across the board in the polls, see below, is going to run on Pity.

Oh, my opponent is doing better than me with the “Voters.”

Oh, my opponent got a Harvard Education they worked their ass off for.

And regarding the Back-Ass-Ward Ron Christie, who actually called the debate a draw, fighting against current in the media’s perception, it’s like McPain Inc. is saying, “Hey, look at this cross-eyed retard I’m putting out on the shows for me! What, you want me to lose? You want little talking point reiterating Ronny to lose his job? And isn’t this new 4-week-young GOP so hip and with it by hiring him? He’s black, so you’re voting McCain, right?”

It’s kind of like Nixon with the media, and George Sr. with the media, but you know what, those men weren’t 72 year old gambling addicts who continue to gamble their campaign away on Palin’s and fake campaign suspensions, and lies that say they’re responsible for the bailout bill.

• George Will supports Barack, Joe Biden does not.

Now, depending on which MegaNewsSite you load as you wake, you’ll hear about something George Will said or something Joe Biden said. Somehow, Will is helping Obama, and Biden, Barack’s fucking VP Pick, is hurting him.

On the topic of Will, the article is called, McCain Loses His Head, and it’s great. I don’t think I need to go in depth on it because it’s part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Except that Will does say:

Under the pressure of the financial crisis, one presidential candidate is behaving like a flustered rookie playing in a league too high. It is not Barack Obama.

Which was cool of him to say.

Now, before I talk Biden, let me say, as most of you know, I’m saying this not as a Hillary supporter, but an Obama supporter who wants to win.

In the week before the election, I was repeating the same phrase over and over again:

The economics of the election is the media coverage, and whomever wins the media coverage will probably win the election.

Biden and Bayh made no sense to me electorally in this regard. Biden got Barack maybe 2-3 days max. coverage in the media. And we’re all still living though media coverage of Sarah Palin, although it has shifted against the favorable coverage of Gov. Palin.

A major complaint that some level at Obama is that he places himself before the country. What could have been a better chess move to block that claim than to put his once arch nemesis in as his number 2? Of course the republicans would air every negative thing the two said about each other during the primaries, and maybe that would have been the reason why they didn’t pick HRC, but you know what, that would have owned everything.

Biden is finally — thankfully off the front page, thank you Turkey Burger Economy (© Tina Fey) — cashing in those chips labeled “All too blunt and off message,” with his thoughts about the McCain Is Stuck In The Past commercial,

Asked about the negative tone of the campaign, and this ad in particular, during an interview broadcast Monday by the “CBS Evening News,” Obama’s running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, said he disapproved of it.

“I thought that was terrible, by the way,” Biden said.

Asked why it was done, he said: “I didn’t know we did it and if I had anything to do with it, we’d have never done it.”

And then there’s the reaction by Biden and Camp Obama, which is basically to say, Biden wasn’t even wholly informed about the commercial when he was interviewed:

Late Monday, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton issued a statement from Biden. In it, Biden said he “was asked about an ad I’d never seen” and was “reacting merely to press reports.”

Biden said that, as he said in the interview, there was nothing “intentionally personal” in the criticism of McCain’s views.

“Having now reviewed the ad, it is even more clear to me that given the disgraceful tenor of Sen. McCain’s ads and their persistent falsehoods, his campaign is in no position to criticize, especially when they continue to distort Barack’s votes on an issue as personal as keeping kids safe from sexual predators,” Biden said.

Biden was referring to a McCain ad that said Obama supported sex education for kindergartners, based on a bill he voted for as an Illinois state senator. Obama’s campaign said the ad was a “shameful” distortion of his record because the bill’s language meant young children would have been taught about sexual predators and concepts such as “good touch and bad touch.”

Which is okay, I guess.

But Joe, you know what you need to do to redeem yourself and prove yourself as a pick. It’s the one real day’s work you have to do: you must unequivocally win your debate with Sarah Palin.

You must beat her without having it look mean or being able to spin it (reasonably) as sexist.

You must show her to be a complete and utter phony. It’s almost close to Shame, what you need to do. A politically correct public shaming.

Joe, you do that, and we’re OK. It may be a tough thing to do, I don’t know. But if you don’t, you’re the first real mistake that Barack made.

• The Legend of WithAPassion: Links To The Past

Yay, the media is doing their job, and covering the Sarah Palin charges for Rape Kits Story!

As much as I agree with Maher about how we need less religion, Sullivan and Corso are right that Bill is becoming a bigot towards the religious.

Bloomberg media no likey McCain.

TVOTR news: Dear Science onsale tomorrow, 3rd Brooklyn night onsale Thurs. @ Noon.

Incredibly shocking story about McCain and the POW’s possibly left behind. So well researched the media has no excuse for not reporting on it other than the fact that they’re deferential to the candidate. Thanks to Emilia for reminding me about that one.

Jack Curry shows I’m not the only one who was astonished that Torre was not even mentioned at the end of Yankee Stadium.

Bill Clinton <3’s McCain and Obama Equally. Someone tell Bill there’s a time and a place to be happy and fair, and pre-election ain’t it.

• Douglas Holtz-Eakin: The Last McCain Surrogate

So with Carly “Nobody could be a CEO, especially me” Fiorina “disappeared” by the McCain campaign, Phil Gramm long banished, have you noticed that one Douglas Holtz-Eakin has become the go-to surrogate for McLame?

This seems like possibly the last surrogate they have, except I don’t even know why he should be going out there after trying to claim that John McCain was crucial in inventing the Blackberry. Note, he named the black berries when they were discovered, we can’t expect Dougie to know the diff.

What’s I’m getting to here is that one of the post-campaign meme’s in how, if he wins, Barack won, was message control. Yes, there was the whole Hillary’s Campaign Is A Monster moment from Samantha Power who immediately stepped down, but that was way the fuck back in March. Since then, the Obama campaign has been running on all cylinders.

Eakin is on with Blitzer right now, dodging the question as to WHY DOES JOHN MCCAIN HAS FANNY MAE AND FREDDY MAC PEOPLE RUNNING HIS GOD DAMN CAMPAIGN??

If McCain keeps having to send his surrogates away from the cameras, the public might have to only see Holtz-Eakin as his only surrogate as Obama has everyone from:

Austan Goolsbee, weird named Economic Advisor to Barack, who’s really outmatching Eakin in this battle on der Blitzer who’s being a bit of a right leaning hack at the moment, surprise surprise.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz the former Hillary, now rocking for Barack-er, to

Paul Krugman isn’t on official status, but he’s saying McCain’s got no real way to claim he’s not the Mr. Deregulation he’s been for decades. to

Paul Begala who isn’t on the official tip either, plugging his book Third Term, but has enough jokes on McCain to really dig in deep

And that’s only the people who I can name off the top of my head. Also, post-Palin, McCain’s got Romney angry at him. McCain’s also got Ron Paul in refusal to endorse him.

The whole Party unity thing swings the other way, as does, I’ve been showing, message control swing, if you compare Barack to Kerry.

• Bill Maher on The Financial Crisis

These financial shenanigans that have been going on … they’re now putting an end to something called short selling, when you borrow stock that you don’t own and sell it hoping it will go down, so you can buy it back at a profit. This was legal, but pot smoking isn’t?
